Look Out

Looking East

Time to leave. A good few days, although I find my times here tinged with sadness. Lots of happy times here with J despite all the challenges. That’s just how it’s going to be I think. I’ll hopefully return again soon.

Before heading south I visited the Friends Meeting House at Yealand Conyers. It was closed so no opportunity to see the interior (I think I may have to attend a meeting). It’s a simple vernacular building constructed in the late 17th century following the passing of the Act of Toleration in 1689, then modified in the 18th century following a major fire which destroyed the thatch roof (extra). I’ve always liked the Quackers lack of show, ostentation or wealth. The simple life.

The view is from the side of the Meeting House looking east. I think that distant hill must be Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales.

So, earth yes, wind no, fire - yes historically but thankfully not today.
