Marjorie's ramblings

In the woods

David and his son, Harry, came to service the burglar alarm this morning. It was such a nice day that I decided to go for a walk as soon as they had gone.

It was sunny with clear views up on Fallowfield Fell. I approached from Wall Village, climbing the steep path to the remains of an Iron Age Fort. Then over stone stiles to Fallowfield Farm.

The sheep and lambs were doing their best to find shade under the trees.

I had my mind on the clock because I had an NHS phone appointment at 1.45 and I wanted to be sure that I had a good phone signal. At 1.30 I received a text to say that my appointment had been cancelled! Rather short notice!

Then I could relax for the rest of the walk passing Crag House and joining Hadrian’s Wall Trail back to Wall.

It’s just about 5.6 miles but I felt as though I had had a good workout.

I called in to see Jenny and Dennis in Wall after the walk. Dennis had been disturbed by the starlings fighting for food on the bird feeder. He gave me a big smile when I arrived and stayed calm while I talked about my walk. He has very little speech now.
