Vick and Dan's Wedding

What a wonderful day!

After an early breakfast, looking out over Fistral Beach, Jo, Catherine and I headed out to the hairdressers. I've never had my hair put up professionally before and it looked fabulous. We didn't have to be at the wedding until half past twelve, which gave us time to sit and chill with the papers and then make ourselves beautiful. The horizon was slowly disappearing in the mist and the rain. It was the first bad day in ten weeks...it might have rained but it certainly didn't put a dampener on the day though.

We turned a few heads, as we passed the surfers and cagoule clad walkers, all done up in our finery and got into the taxi. The rain was hammering down by then but we thought we were to be dropped at the door so we weren't too bothered...how wrong we were. "This is as far as I go," said Pete, the taxi man. There was nothing to be seen. He then pointed to the steps down to the beach...at least a hundred of them. With my long dress hitched up and wonky umbrella protecting my hair I carefully wound my way down.

The venue was fabulous, it was decked out in a seaside theme and led out to the private beach. The ceremony was beautiful and Dan and Vick looked radiant. The rain eased off in time for photos on the beach and then we had a barbecue. The food was gorgeous and we sat on rows of picnic tables all bedecked with little beach huts, lighthouses, shells and pebbles.

The whole day was laid back and easy and it effortlessly slipped into the evening. The rain stopped and a glorious sunset melted onto the beach. The supper snackette was a cornish pasty...of course. We ate, we drank, we danced, we chatted, we laughed, we celebrated and after a wonderful day....we climbed back up all those steps!
