Glorious poppy!

We had a yellow weather warning last night for heavy rain but nothing materialised just like last weekend when we had a storm warning and it didn’t happen.
I set off to church this morning in sunshine but with dark clouds on the horizon but again just a few spots as people were arriving for the service.
It was the last service in our church of our Rector Richard, we will miss him. He has great humour and is an excellent preacher. Next week will be his last service in the benefice. Then it will be the start of a new era.

Walking past a neighbour’s house at the bottom of the close I couldn’t resist a shot of these glorious poppies. Two in flower with more to come. So much complex detail in one flower.

Today is son in law John’s birthday. Last night on the solstice the family had a ‘night out at the movies’ on their terrace to celebrate. Extra. He’s having a couple of days off to cycle in the Brecon Beacons.
Happy birthday John!
