Driftwood Dome

Last night Oskar was looking at “Time” the one book of Andy Goldsworthy that I have here. He looked at everything(he’s the most visual grandkid) and we talked about making art from nature. So today we decided to look on the beach and see what we could do. A Driftwood Dome about 4 feet from the high tide mark, carefully constructed by Tatum and Niklas. ! (here) Unfortunately we had to leave to go pick up Tatum’s parents and Fiona! so alas, we did not see the tide come up under it or see how it fell, but here is how it looked soon after we got home... (We’ll have to document another one) We all agreed it was quite beautiful and natural looking but it was OK to just be that way for a short time. Of course we have pictures.

We were so hoping for nice weather today to play with the boats, but it was just too windy and nasty.....until about 5PM. After dinner we went to pick up the boys parents. Full house for a day. Son #1 who arrived this afternoon brought a wifi router so now we are hooked up everywhere -not sure this is good for the kids as they were instantly on their devices with utube etc. I think inevitable though.

Have added some more photos to the Grandchildren Camp Flickr set....including some of building the Driftwood dome....
