What we do for fun!
We were singing at 1.00 pm today at the Community Garden in Baildon. We’ve sung here before on glorious sunny days on a couple of occasions, memorably for the Queens Platinum Jubilee. Today we were here to celebrate the garden’s 20th anniversary. The weather was a bit iffy but we got away without rain and as usual we had an enjoyable time.
I sing with the harmonies but the picture at the top shows the tune/melody singers abd some if the men.
Back home I managed to watch a bit of Le Tour which started today. Then my friend came over for tea. She brought sandwiches from M&S and I got some quiches and cream cakes from Yorkshire Treats in the village to have with fresh strawberries. It made a nice afternoon tea which we needed to have quite early as we were headIng to the Alhambra Theatre in the centre of Bradford for a Bradfird 25, City of Culture production starring our very own blipper Mambo.
It was a super production of contemporary dance called Memories of the Future, by the acclaimed and award winning Abram Khan. The phrase ‘ we all belong’ in the programme was very apt as 70 performers from the age of 8 to 79 and of all cultures participated.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and they rightly got a standing ovation at the end. Well done to all, what a great and memorable thing to be a part of.*
* see Mambo’s blip tonight
