A summer morning
too good to miss - so off I
set with camera

I turned onto Rose Hill Road from the Merritt Highway before 6. The sun already had a headstart on me.

The first part of the road was a challenge as the sun was in my face. I had to shield my eyes from the sun while steering to stay on the gravel road.

I enjoy the long views from this route. I can look out across the grasslands quite a distance from some locations.

I found a hawk perched on an old shed. It was peering into the sun.

There were lots of cattle out on the open range. I found this curious cow looking over the fence at me. I'd rolled down my window and she seemed interested in the Italian opera that was playing on my radio.

Several ruffed grouse appeared on the road. I couldn't seem to get them off the road so I could pass. They scampered along ahead of me, veering right and left. Suddenly they made a decision to bolt into the roadside weeds.

On the north side, I stopped for a panorama of the Thompson Valleys. I could see from the downtown right across to Mt. Paul.

It was a shame to have to turn for home, but I was getting hungry.

It will be a very relaxed and lazy day.  I will make sure of that.
