Button Bear

This is my daughter Jen, fending off the bear on the staircase at Button House, aka West Horsley Place. Fans of the BBC comedy series, 'Ghosts', will recognise the setting. Along with my wife, we went on a tour of the house which is only around 20 minutes drive away. So this gave us lots of insights on the filming process and the scenes that took place in the various rooms. There were about 20 people on the two hour tour, some of whom were clearly very knowledgeable about the characters and the actors that played them.

I will post photos of the house and gardens tomorrow as it's an historic building that has a Grade 1 listing and dates back over 600 years. It was bequeathed to the late Bamber Gascoigne, author and original quizmaster of University Challenge, in 2015. He then gifted it to a newly formed charity, West Horsley Place Trust which both aims to conserve the building and estate, and use it to improve people's wellbeing through access to culture, heritage and nature. Certainly, watching 'Ghosts' used to help my wellbeing. An impressive new opera house for Grange Park Opera, which is run by a separate charity, has also been built in the grounds.

The extras show the character of Humphrey's head along with the contraption that enabled his headless body to appear in scenes.
