A visit with friends
is the best part of any
trip away from home

We left Amherst, Nova Scotia right after breakfast with plans to find our friends, then get across the Confederation Bridge to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
It started as a cloudy morning. I looked across the highway from our breakfast room to catch the wind turbines in the distance. The grey start was not very encouraging, but 30 minutes down the highway the sun came out and kept us company all day.
We found our way to Sainte-Marie-de-Kent where our friends have a lovely home with a view to the river. Both R and L keep a beautiful yard and home. We were treated to apple pie with ice cream while we chatted over the kitchen table.
R and L volunteer at the local church, keeping the cemetery and the church tidy. We stopped to look at both on our way back to the main highway.
Just before the Confederation Bridge, we stopped to photograph it from the south end by the Cape Jourimain Nature Centre. I popped into the centre to have a look at the work of local artists, then got a quick shot of the Cape Jourimain light house.
We were driving over highways that intersected thick forests with inlets, marshes, mudflats and river channels on the New Brunswick side of the bridge. We arrived in Charlottetown at our motel just before 5 PM.
We will have a quiet night and be ready to explore the city tomorrow.
