Any tech people out there who can help? My dissertation is due on Wednesday....

It totally froze up, so I force restarted, but it just can't get going. This is it trying for safe mode, I've tried resetting the NVRAM/PRAM, although I'm not sure I actually did that right... I don't have any installation disks to try opening from.

All I'll lose of my dissertation is today's proofing and word trimming, not the end of the world, but ARGH! The internets all say my HDD isn't happy. :S
