Hexham Abbey

I was in Hexham this morning for a haircut and took the opportunity to visit the Abbey. The Embroiderers' Guild exhibition that was in the Galilee Chapel of Durham Cathedral has moved to Hexham. Half the exhibits are in the Queens Hall and half in the Abbey. The publicity has been minimal and you could have visited the Abbey today and missed the beautiful work on show. Mum has a piece called Sanctuary in the Abbey and her piece "M is for St Matthew" is in the Queens Hall.

My Blip is of a stunning quilted altar piece in the tiny chapel set aside for private prayer. I love the way the colours in the fabric gradually change from one section to the next.

This afternoon Mum and I went shopping in Newcastle which was pleasant but not very fruitful.
