Opening Night of The Hydro, Glasgow

This is me standing outside Scotland's newest concert venue The Hydro, Glasgow. waiting to go and see Rod Stewart who is playing 5 nights here and is the very first big act to play at this venue.

We walked over the Clyde from the Science Centre and the building was looking beautiful, all lit up in green, blue and purple with laser beams projecting into the night sky. It resembles a spaceship and it holds 13,000 people. You could feel the excitement outside too as people were standing taking pictures of it and Rod fans singing in groups and dancing around the pavements!

Inside too has loads of bars, food, and more importantly, plenty toilets! I couldn't wait to get inside to see what it looked like. Oh boy it's fantastic, and although it's massive, all seats have good views of the stage and good video screens above. We were standing and had a great view of the stage. My voice is hoarse today with the singing, as he played loads of his great old songs and then about 4 off his new album. In fact, it was really a great big sing-a-long, I think he was quite overcome with the sound of us all belting out his songs:-) Near the end he began kicking out autographed footballs into the crowd. That was entertaining in itself as there were some right free-for-alls with folk desperate to claim a ball. We just missed one.... Then, as the concert came to a close, balloons were dropped from nets in the ceiling. It was great night. And got tickets today in the pre-sale for Elbow who are playing here next April:-)

Earlier though, said bye to the gang as they are off to Tenerife today for a week. Have a fantastic holiday guys x
