An evening with Don Quixote

After another taxing day in the sun and surf, we got cleaned up, had a quick dinner, then caught a bus to the Teatro Vallarta downtown where we were entertained by the Russian State Ballet of Siberia in a performance of Don Quixote.

Teatro Vallarta is a beautiful, modern space that opened its doors in 2010. The very steep slope of the seating allowed for a wonderfully unobstructed view from any seat. Unlike other ballet performances I've attended, Teatro Vallarta offers popcorn, chips, salsa, soda and other beverages for sale in the lobby, and permits consumption of same inside the theatre.

Tonight's performance of Don Quixote was choreographed by Alexander Gorsky and Marius Petipa, with music by Ludwig Minkus. It was quite a flashy and lively performance by all - all except Don Quixote himself.

After the show, we were embraced again by warm, sticky air, as we strolled back to the bus stop for the ride home.
