Beak To Beak

I spotted this chaffinch at Hooks Marsh on the bank of Seventy Acres Lake absorbed in scoffing crumbs in an area where people feed the waterfowl.

The first pic I got included a crow that I often see hanging around there. Then the swans swam in. I snapped away and the chaffinch didn't fly until a car engine was started nearby.

Bit concerned about the bird's legs and feet. Are they excrescences caused by disease or has it just got crumbs stuck to them?

People will feed bread to wildfowl but it is not good for them or the environment. Wish they would feed the following:

Cracked corn
Wheat, barley or similar grains
Oats (uncooked; rolled or quick)
Rice (cooked or uncooked)
Birdseed (any type or mix)
Grapes (cut in half)
Frozen peas or corn (defrosted, no need to cook)
Earthworms
Mealworms (fresh or dried)
Chopped lettuce or other greens or salad mixes
Vegetable trimmings or peels (chopped)
