Ramblings and Mutterings

Kissin' in the back row

I went to the Grand Theatre Swansea tonight to see Welsh National Opera’s latest season, the opera tonight was Tosca. It’s only the third opera I’ve ever seen and compared to Don Giovanni and Cosi fan Tutte, it’s not the most uplifting story but nevertheless was a good production. For those of you who might not know the story, Tosca is a story of love, betrayal, torture and ultimately death. Tosca is the lady of the piece whose love for Mario Cavaradossi leads to tragedy due to the evil Scarpia, the villain of the piece. Particular mention must go to Mary Elizabeth Williams as Tosca, she had an amazing voice!

Now I bet you’re wondering now what has the title of this blip got to do with an opera, well it was to do with two hippie oldies who spent most of the first act of the opera seeing more of each other’s tonsils than the opera in the back row of the theatre. Good grief! Get a grip the two of you! You should have seen the faces of the old dears nearby, it was hilarious!
