BCAM - Pink Challege Day 14

Well, what a full on day we've had today. We're completely zapped.

Started today with driving to Mirdif City Centre (which is on the 'other' side of Dubai) to watch 'Planes' ... it was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

Then a quick browse through the shopping centre before we headed out to our major event of the day on the 'other' side of town, lunch at an old haunt, Al Dawar Revolving Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Dubai. Martin, the boys and I used to live on the premises and feel right at home there and it felt like walking back into time. Was recognised instantly as soon as I walked through the door, even after 8 years, amazing!

Food was buffet and yes, we overdid it big time. But that's the only meal I had today, honest. Icing on the cake was the fabulous arabic dessert called Umm Ali (trans. Ali's Mother) and in my humble opinion, the Hyatt does it best. Why oh why do we not live here anymore???

Then for a visit to Dubai Hospital again to see my stepmum who had knee surgery last week.

Then on to the Gold Souk to see what damage I could do to the plastic! Was such fun and got some super pics. Sherry parked the car at the top of the multi-storey car park where I got this gorgeous picture of the mouth of Deira Creek. This, to me, is the absolute HEART of Dubai. Nothing speaks Dubai like this place does, and if you ever visit Dubai, you MUST MUST MUST visit this area and get a feel for what Dubai is!!! This is where it ALL started. This area is called Al Ras (trans. The Head) and the little boats are called 'abras' which take you back and forth between Deira and Bur Dubai. The Gold Souk is right behind this car park. It is a great vantage point to get some action shots of life on the Creek. The sun was just setting and we were blessed with this glorious PINK sunset, again, how incredibly convenient.

We were in the Gold Souk till quite late, we're shattered but I've thoroughly enjoyed being in the 'real' Dubai. Thanks GK and G!!!
