A time for everything

House amidst the trees

Wednesday
Another beautiful house set in the trees on the hillside above Samois - it must have wonderful views over the river. I thought it made quite a nice picture, accented by the Fall colors. I managed to capture it during one of the rare glimpses of sun while I was out walking. It was a really blustery morning and at times the leaves were raining down from the trees. Our eldest daughter called from the States in the afternoon to wish me a Happy Birthday, then in the evening Roger took me out to dinner in the charming village of Barbizon. We ended up having the restaurant to ourselves - it being out of season and mid week and also the schools are on vacation for Toussaint (All Saints), a time when many people in France get together with family and close friends. When we lived here last, the kids used to get a week for Toussaint, but apparently they now get two weeks. Dining alone in a restaurant can often be off-putting, but the restaurant had a comfortable ambience, there was a wonderful selection of classical music playing in the background, the waitress was friendly and attentive, but not over attentive, and the food was excellent as we knew it would be, so it was a lovely evening and we went home well-stuffed, where we got to skype with our younger daughter in Macedonia.
