Royal Yacht -

Britannia is 60 years old this year and is moored in Leith, Edinburgh. I have visited her before but as today was somewhat grey and dreich we decided it would be a good place to visit.

The little bedroom at the top was the Queen's own but if this looks small you should see where the crew and accompanying marines had to sleep with their up to 12 changes of uniform a day!

The yacht wasn't just used for holidays, though there are lots of lovely family pictures to see, but as a place to entertain heads of state when the Queen was abroad and you can see the state dining room set out here and the cosy drawing room too. It can still be booked for corporate events.

Returning to the city centre we decided to have afternoon tea at Harvey Nics with a good view over St Andrew's Square and the castle whilst keeping dry. We had a good laugh at some of those prices too!
