Life's Little Moments

How the Other People Live...

We decided to head home today from the Catskills after spending a wonderful Thanksgiving with good friends. We met them for breakfast at a local eatery then headed towards home at a leisurely pace.

We stopped in Rhinebeck, NY for a stroll around the village - it's a lovely spot and we both enjoyed meandering in and out of shops. Then, a bit further along the drive, we spotted the Vanderbilt Mansion which was built in the 1800s by the famed Vanderbilt family. The mansion is situated on several hundred acres on the Hudson River - simply stunning. It was left to the US Park Service in the early 1900s to be kept as a historic landmark. Definitely a place we will visit again - when it isn't so darned cold!

I took this shot using the in-camera HDR setting. I handheld so it isn't quite as crisp as I'd like, but I do like the effect that this setting creates. No cropping or post-editing done to this image. The pillars you can see on the right of the frame are from the mansion. This must surely be how the "other half" live...

I posted five other shots from the weekend starting HERE on Flickr

Hubs and I just arrived home, having stopped at a local spot for dinner. Going to make it an early evening as we are both tired from the drive. Plus, the cats are demanding attention!

Later, people...
