Across Loch Broom from Rhue

8.8C stormy with weather easing from late morning then occasional sleety squalls. Temperature dropping to 1.5C by late afternoon.
The local weather station seems not to have coped with wind speed so figures are from the Met Office observations for Leuchars showing maximum mean wind speed Westerly 46mph gusting 75mph at 8am.

Maeve the Deerhound and I expected to be soaked and blown around on our early walk this morning but we were lucky and the rain had gone off long enough for Maeve to do what she needed to do.

It was Apothecary7's day off. We waited until 10am when the weather seemed to have eased a bit then set off for our weekly visit to M&S at City Quay in Dundee. We went to the cafe then bought a few groceries and treats. We did go round to Riverside drive and had a short walk but a snowy/sleety squall came along so we just went back to the car and headed home.

After lunch we decided that we would tidy away the last of the artworks from our trips to Ullapool that have been on the dining room table for far too long. Since I was thinking of an indoor blip for today anyway I looked out this print from our second trip to Bridge House Art which was the first time we did any printing. It is interesting to see an early effort. The print itself is oil based ink on cartridge paper, is 18" by 15", and was produced on an etching press. The block was cut from a thick card which has two layers below the surface which in turn can give grey tones and white, the surface which takes the ink giving black. The view is towards Beinn Ghobhlach looking across from the beach by the lighthouse at Rhue, near Ullapool.
