Making Felted Bowls

We had Craft Day at a neighbor's house, and made lovely little felted wool bowls. If you are very very good, I will post a picture of the finished project soon.

The bright colored stuff is called roving, or unspun wool. Thin layers of this soft substance are built up around a plastic disc that is removed about halfway into the project. There is water involved, and lots of burnishing and shaping and shrinking. I swore before I went over there that I was only going to document the event; no way was I going to start yet another craft project, no sir. What would I do with a small felted bowl anyway? Well, I haven't answered that question yet, but I can tell you that I'm hooked. It was simple, relaxing and great fun to do in a group.
