Landing approach by a goldfinch

I am in a rush to go out to a long meeting which will last until 9pm. As I made a snack for lunch I saw that the goldfinches had gathered together to feed outside the back door. Although the window is double glazed i thought the bright sunlight might get me a shot or two.

A bullfinch approached but was kept away by the five goldfinches and had to make do with flapping his wings in apparent frustration. Then one of the finches flew off and another made its final landing approach to one of the free perches.

In another shot. there were just two of them perched either side of the feeder happily scoffing the sunflower seeds. I was taking continuous pictures and in the second to last shot the nearer finch had a big seed in its mouth, and in the next shot the seed had shot out of its mouth much to its surprise and was captured in midair. They are such fun little birds and so colourful, especially when their wing patterns can be seen.
