M and I were up early today to get off to the airport and catch our plane to Luton. We were flying with SleazyJet and were pleasantly surprised that we ended up in the air about 20 minutes early... Bonus.

We caught a train in from Luton to the centre of London and got a little confused in finding our hotel - who knew Marylebone and Leicester Square were so far apart?! Mum and Dad had beaten us down by about an hour, so we all headed out for lunch at Paul's bakery. After the best cup of coffee I've had in an age, we all headed back to the hotel to get ready for the ballet tonight; Mum and Dad had bought us tickets to The Nutcracker for Christmas.

The Royal Opera House was quite close to our hotel so we just walked over in time for a pre-performance dinner. The starter and mains were so tasty! We got to sit in the balcony bar, right up in the beautiful glass ceiling of the building. We'd all dressed up, too, so it felt like a really special night. After a glass of fizz at the bar we took our seats for the show. It was just as amazing as I remembered from going as a wee girl. The snowflakes are always my favourite with their gorgeous tiaras and proper tutus!

At the interval we returned to our table at the balcony bar and had our dessert - a plum and almond tart for me; yum yum! It's a very civilised way to have a night out :o) The second half was quite short, and it was a fantastic night. M had never been to a ballet before and I think he really enjoyed it!

After a day of travelling we were all ready for an early night, but we did manage a cup of coffee together at the hotel before we turned in. Looking forward to the next two days here!

P.S. Spotted this guy walking with a huge gilded mirror while we were dashing between tube stations; I liked that it looks as though he's carrying a painting.
