Ferris Wheel, George Square, Glasgow

I think the combined image of the statue of Queen Victoria on horseback and the fun Ferris wheel, newly erected in George Square, is a nice contrast. One is the symbol of former ceremony and power, while the other represents fun and frivolity in the here and now. I have used the crosshatch filter to accentuate the structural elements and pulled out the blue to add some punch.

The original Ferris Wheel was produced by George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. as a landmark for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Now the term Ferris wheel is used generically for all such structures.
