Arrochar Alps from Stockiemuir.

This morning I raced out while the sun shone to capture snow on the peaks of the Arrochar Alps. This winter, while the south of England has been engulfed by rain, the Scottish hills have been blanketed by snow - great for the skiing industry, in fact too much in places, with ski lifts buried!

The Arrochar Alps do not have official ski slopes, but on 5th July the official race over its four peaks of Ben Vorlich, Ben Vane, Beinn Ime and Beinn Narnain takes place. It's a tough call as the weather can be dire with steep and treacherous slopes in rain. I think I prefer them at a distance covered in snow! Now, as light fades, a blanket of snow is lying all around.
