Team Mourning Dove recovers and medals!

Wow, people! Another action packed day at Alternative Olympic Stadiums around the globe! It's so great to read the reports coming in from the far corners of the Bliposphere about the prowess of local athletes! And it seems that a lot of the athletes put in extra effort on this Valentine's Day.

Not wanting to disappoint, my athletes showed up today with their A-games. After the recent unfortunate "incident" with Hermione of Team Mourning Dove and the Grackles, I wasn't sure if Team MD could be persuaded to compete. But, die-hard athletes that they are, they showed up and triumphed today at Andover Arena. Here you see Henrietta flying her Victory Flight after medaling in the Mid Air Hovering competition. She posed for a few other pictures, HERE and again HERE, showing her winning form.

High on her success in the Hover, she went on to try the Balance Beam - unfortunately, she didn't fare as well on the beam.... And because the MD's are kind of prima donnas ... she went over and picked a fight with Hermione ... right on the platform! Hermione, being no slouch in street fighting, kicked her off the platform. Which further enraged our girl...bringing about the second unfortunate incident of the day involving Team Junco It wasn't pretty, people. Good thing Henrietta recovered her senses and apologized to everyone, thereby avoiding sanctions.

In other AOG news ... Team Grackles lead glider started listening to Elvis tunes and broke into his own rendition of I'm all shook up! It provided some much needed levity after the Mourning Dove drama.

The ski jump competition was today and it was a close contest. Results are in, though and here's the medal line-up...
Team Euopeant Starlings in the Bronze
Team American Tree Sparrow in the Silver
and, finally, Team Junco in the Gold And looking at the size of the jump, is it any wonder he came in at the top?!

This reporter foolishly took on another assignment tomorrow so I'm not sure how many of the competitions I'll be able to report on, but I promise to give you something... And in the meantime, please check out all the other reports from around the world over at "tagged AOG" And don't forget that this competition is open to anyone, from zero legs (snakes) to a gazillion legs. Just remember to tag your entry AOG - come on and join the fun!

Your intrepid reporter, signing off on this cold and snowy Valentine's Day.

PS: the slopes at Andover Olympic Stadium got another foot of fresh snow yesterday so the base is now 2 feet deep with a thin crust of ice. Hoping that tomorrow's storm drops some much needed powder on the AOG ski slopes...
