Synchronized Shell Shucking

A new AOG event, just started for these Olympic Games - and one that is promising to be a hotly contested race! This competition requires a strong beak and a dexterous tongue - the seed must be kept in the beak until the meat is extracted at which point the shell can be tossed. Here you see Madame Cardinal showing the style that has made her a Grand National Champ - however, you can also see Missy House Finch in the background showing some pretty amazing moves of her own. You'll have to stay tuned in the days ahead to see who wins the Medal.

This reporter had to go facilitate group of humans who were having a strategic planning session this morning, and didn't get back to Olympic Stadium until nearly 2 in the afternoon. Based on the mess under the feeders in the Athlete's Lounge, I'm guessing that it was a busy morning.

A couple of highlights of the afternoon...

Team Fox Sparrow, doing synchronized standing (they were actually resting between their snow-kicking practice sessions)
Team American Tree Sparrow, sitting out the afternoon's games - no doubt resting up for tomorrow.
Team Song Sparrow has one of their members standing by to sing at the closing ceremonies, and
Madame's daughter Mildred wonders when the snow will stop (note, it should stop sometime tonight ...)

Sorry for a brief report, but I promise to be back up to snuff tomorrow - the forecast calls for sunny skies and crisp (not frigid) temps. Sounds like excellent weather for your intrepid reporter, who is now...
