A time for everything

Eglise Saint-Martin, La Genevraye

Monday
It was a beautiful sunny day, and so after bible study I decided to drive out to La Genevraye, to the south of Fontainebleau. I have been wanting to take a photograph of this church for a while. It is quite striking as it stands all alone on top of a hillock in the middle of a field. We first saw it back in September when we were biking along the nearby Canal du Loing. Then we passed it again yesterday when we were driving out to a nearby village to some friends for lunch, but since we had another couple following us, I couldn't really stop. I took several pictures of the church from different angles, then went for quite a long walk along the canal, enjoying the sunshine and blue skies. The church dates back originally to the 12th century, but had to be partially rebuilt after a fire in the 17th century.
