Grey-Brown But Gorgeous

The day dawned beautifully sunny and made many of us happy. I togged bugs this morning. A couple of ladybirds had ventured out. They're going to be Polka to me for ever more since I read in the paper of Philip Pullman's Twitter story about Jeffrey the fly and his invertebrate friends. :) I photographed two green shield bugs. One was green and the other had still got its brown winter colouration.

I went to Amwell Nature Reserve in the hope of photographing a kingfisher but it didn't show. I got a pair of reed buntings but they are a bit drab. Gadwall ducks are at first sight drab too but with the light on them, as in my pic, they're beautiful.
