Life in Sunny Dubai

Saffron

Had an evening out in old Dubai today!! The Spice Souk even!! A place I used to sometimes visit twice a day when I was a tour guide, and haven’t blipped even once in 686 blips!! Have to be here in the day time though to really capture the colours and the variety of things they sell. For today you have Sami – from Iran – holding up his jar of “best quality” saffron!! G and the person we were showing round smelt the difference right away; so we now have 5g of best quality Iranian saffron!! Apparently, 10g would last a whole year because you would need so little of it to give colour to whatever it is you are preparing! Sami also burnt some myrrh for us!

Prior to this we had been on an abra (water taxi) ride. Something else I’ve been wanting to blip for the longest time; but have to wait for when the sun is out. Ended by having a Lebanese meal at Heritage Village along the other side of the Creek and watching all the dinner cruise ships go by. Very nice!

Day 3 of the course and it was the toughest one yet! Last day tomorrow… AND we have been given a shorter day on Thursday due to traffic congestion caused by a big food exhibition going on! :)

Sorry I haven’t been able to catch up with you today; will rectify tomorrow.
