Thank God for Blue Peter

In the 1960’s (when Ann was a very young child) the only TV programme she was allowed to watch was Blue Peter. The presenter, Val Singleton, made a lot of stuff out of ‘sticky back plastic’ which according to Ann’s mother was extremely expensive, double sided sticky tape, Ann still doesn’t know where to buy that, and empty fairy liquid bottles.

The only half decent thing Ann made, after watching Blue Peter, was a ‘Dougal Dog’. Dougal was a dog on the 'Magic Roundabout'and ‘Blue Peter’ showed the viewers how to make him out of a empty fairy liquid bottle. Blue Peter seemed to make everything out of washing up liquid bottles This involved sticking bits of wool over the fairy liquid bottle. Unfortunately 'Dougal Dogs' legs & nose were made from wine bottle corks cut in two, and Ann’s parents didn’t drink so the ‘Dougal Dog’ that Ann made didn’t have any legs or a nose. He was just a washing up liquid bottle with a few bits of wool stuck on top.

There is a point to this story................................. Ann will get to it eventually.......................

In the 1970’s Ann was in the Guides. She didn’t want to be in the guides but in those days one just did what ones parents said. Guide motto – be prepared.

Sooooooooooo the Guide motto has stuck, the hours of watching Valerie Singleton making stuff on Blue Peter has stuck.

I’m not allowed to get my stitched up ear wet under any circumstances (and it’s pouring with rain).

I’ve just been out for my bedtime wee.

Thank goodness for ‘being prepared’ and Blue Peter!!!

....................................Please don’t laugh at the little cover Ann has made for my ear.

Being 'prepared' and 'watching Blue Peter' has ensured that I can still go out in the rain.

Yay!!!
