Valley of Fire

We visited the Vally of Fire today. It is Nevada's first state park and it is a hidden gem. We've been here several times over the years. It was Helena's first visit. Today is her birthday so it seemed appropriate for her to experience this amazing place for the first time today. It is about an hour drive from Henderson to the park. We drove through the Lake Mead park to get there. We made several stops while we were there and ate our lunch at Atalotl Rock where there is a wonderful display of petroglyphs. The last stop we made was along the road near an area that feels like it could be on the moon. There are veins of many colors and ribs sticking out and shooting across the terrain. Really an amazing place. That is where we took this photo.

Helena and Arvin are resting. Steve is doing a crossword puzzle and I'm doing my blip. We are having a great trip.
