In the Sun

We were expecting relatives for lunch today but a phone call at 6:45am this morning reporting a sprained ankle incapable of being walked on, disappointed us, but let us off the hook to walk through the crocuses carpeting the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links to find a coffee for consolation.

I had been hoping to blip the purple ones with their yellow centres open to the sun, but the fresh gusting wind meant that they were less than enthusiastic about opening up, and also difficult to keep in focus.

His Lordship rewarded his patience in waiting for me by choosing the eye wateringly large Sea Salt Caramel Tart in the Chocolate Tree in Bruntsfield. It was a one fork cake, and stayed that way; not one crumb or morsel was offered across the table.
I can only hope that his indulgence will shortly be registered in ounces on the bathroom scales.
