FAREWELL TO A LOVELY LADY

We joined in a service of celebration with the family and many other friends of Karen, to bid her farewell, until we meet again.

It was good to hear tributes to Karen and also to learn about the various things that she has been involved in. She leaves a wonderful legacy, not only for her family and friends, but also for our church, for the community and especially for the local Primary School.

I read this poem at the service:

You can shed tears that Karen is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back -
Or you can do what Karen would want:
Smile,
Open your eyes,
Love and go on.

David Harkins

This beautiful song sums up what we, as Christians, believe:
"There is a Day".

Our love and thoughts go out to Karen's family - she will be sadly missed, but she will never be forgotten; I'm sure I speak for all who came into contact with this lovely lady when I say that it has been a privilege to know her.

Jesus said:
I am the way and the truth and the life.
No-one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14: 6
