Requiem

It has been quite an evening!

Sheilwill, as a member of a choral society, has been talking in the last week about rehearsing for a concert. We decided to go and listen. It took place in Kendal Parish Church and was very well attended.

The programme was John Rutter’s Requiem and later in the evening Philip Ledger’s Requiem. A choir of around 60 people, with guest Soprano and Tenor and music, such as that from a harp, oboe, cello, flute, gave a truly wonderful performance, quite mesmerising.

In between the two pieces was a presentation entitled ‘Kendal Choir Remembers’ – poems, letters and diaries ‘From the Front’ accompanied by a photo montage – a remembrance of local lives lost in the First World War. An extremely moving piece.

A serious, solemn and exquisitely beautiful evening. Thank you Sheila.
