Another Retirement Party

Or was it just another party?

This one felt different to me. It was in honor of Gerry...the well dressed young man in the lower left. He is the last one to go from "our" group...a group that spent 30-plus years together.

Year after year...another one leaves, and questions pop up. How do you replace the comedic Carl? How do you replace the 3 living legend Hajec brothers? How do you replace the lovable Shelley? How do you replace Vera being Vera? How do you replace Art...the world's greatest P.R. man? And finally...how do you replace me...the cranky (but likable) old guy?

The answer? You don't. You don't replace them. You just carry on. That's what workers do. They carry on. Things change. Conditions change. People age...people retire. It's the cycle of a work force...the cycle of life.

From left to right...that's me, Carl, Shelley, Johnny, Art, and Vera in the back row. Gerry and Jimmy in the front. A fun group to work with.

Good luck to Gerard Francis as he joins the retirement club. (It's a nice gig.)

I left the party, and walked across the street to the millpond. Fly on over to my FLICKR PAGE to see some cute gosling shots.

Bean soup in the oven, and a sand volleyball game tonight. Bump, set, spike...fall in sand. Life is good.
