If you can't beat them...

Going where?

Set up day on the Westmorland Agricultural Society show ground at the "Country Fest". Clickychick and "The Mate" were having a stand with their photography. As we only took the small marquee and photographs are set out considerably more quickly than jewellery there was plenty of spare time after the evening meal. The Lancaster canal runs across the bottom of the field but sadly it is in the part which was cut off by the M6 in the 60s.

CC has regularly gone for a stroll by the canal in the evening but for the last few years I have stayed in the caravan and done the washing up. Not any more :-)) ! So we had a walk down to the canal and a little way along towards Crooklands. It was a glorious calm evening with reflections on the mirror surface of the canal. Despite this I settled for these steps. Getting from the field to the canal is easy the The Lancaster Canal Regeneration Partnership have put in steps leading up the embankment as they run as trip boat on this section of the canal to raise funds and interest in its restoration. The steps come out by a beautiful original canal bridge and beside the bridge are these steps leading up to the bridge. They invite you to go up them and see what is there.

So I followed them expecting some thing perhaps out of the ordinary. At the top I found .......... grass! The steps look well word as if many people go up but they lead to a bridge which is clearly just for farm use and not much of that. However the shot of the steps appealed most so there it is.
