First of the year...

This morning I saw my first large skipper of the year, a sure sign that high summer's here. It was basking on a leaf in the early morning sunshine, along with a myriad of banded demoiselles. Later in the day Chris and I went up to King's Dyke Nature reserve to do some survey, while Alex was busy helping to attach chicken wire to a boardwalk at one of the Wildlife Trust's nature reserves.

I'm still getting over yesterday and have felt very tired this afternoon, though fortunately my highest priority was quizzing Ben in preparation for his physics paper tomorrow morning, which only required me to sit on the settee!! We'll be setting off early to avoid the rush-hour traffic - so another early night is in order...
