Southern Comfort on the Shortest Day

It's been a busy and tiring day today, as we headed down to Timaru and Fairlie and back.

We dropped our boxes and 'excess furniture' at the storage unit in Timaru, and then went to catch up with Mrs H's folks and celebrate her Mum's birthday with lunch at home and a bit of cake. Lush.

After doing our bits in Timaru, we then headed over to Fairlie to check out a section we've had our eye on. To say that South Canterbury and the Mackenzie Country turned on it's charms are an understatement. The glorious sun, the unseasonal warmth, the deep blue sky and shining snow-capped peaks greeted us as we rolled into the Fairlie Basin. I'm excited....

Today's shot is of a lake nearby to where we were looking today. It's one of those places that's been described as one of the South Island's 'best kept secrets', so I won't name it or geotag it. Wanna guess where it is? Virtual Chocolate Fish for the first correct guess... ;-)
