NO TWO DAYS ARE THE SAME!

Mr HCB had an appointment with the optician at 10 am this morning so we had to go into town early and he was excited to see a double decker bus arrive - so upstairs we went. I go on them all the time so wasn't quite as excited, you understand.

You may have heard about Swindon's Magic Roundabout and this is it and it's not for the faint hearted! It looks good though, from the top deck of a bus!

We hadn't taken coats but wished we had as it was raining quite heavily as we got off the bus and to cut a long story short, we ended up walking out of the opticians because they had messed up the appointment so Mr HCB was not a happy bunny!

We then decided to walk to the dentist to make an appointment and when we got there found the shutters down - I rang their number to be told that they were having a staff training day.

Ah well, we thought, nothing for it but to walk to John Lewis for our free coffee and cake - and at this point the heavens opened - again! Very wet and bedraggled we managed to catch a bus and have just had half a piece each of carrot cake and apple slice - with a cappuccino - at least that has gone right!

So in some ways a disappointing morning but despite these annoyances we won't let them spoil our day and the gardens do need the rain!

Mr HCB's mother always used to say "These little disappointments make your character."

I guess she meant this:

Disappointment to a noble soul
is what cold water
is to burning metal;
it strengthens,
tempers,
intensifies,
but never destroys it.
