Tufted Duckling: Diving

More sculptural-seeming splashes in large ("L").
Back blip.

I went to visit the Goosles on Eagle Pond, and found not only Mr. and Mrs., but four of the fledglings too! Drat: the plan didn't work... Mr. won't be at all pleased. Two of the fledglings remained on the boating pond with the other (young) pair (one seen snoozing here), but we'll see what happens longer term.

The mallardlings and tufted duckling are now looking much more mature. The tufted duckling is much smaller than the mallardlings (and does a lot more diving; the mallardlings mostly keep their tails above the surface), but seems to be more advanced in developing its plumage (and its wings look almost ready!). They were all doing lots of flapping to strengthen their flight muscles, and I don't imagine that it'll be long before they're taking to the air.

p.s. I've also put up three pictures of pigeons scrumming for oats which are quite amusing: click left from here.
