Darkness Falls on The Old School House, Kaituna

After a day in the office I felt the need to blow away the cobwebs, so on arriving home Jack and I went out for a walk down the valley. He's been at home with the in-laws all day, so he and Zoey have had plenty of company, not to mention some running around outside. Nevertheless, Jack being a Collie never says no to a chance to stretch his long legs, so we set off through the gate with much gusto.

Walking down the valley the breeze turned quite fierce and biting, the surrounding hills amplifying the velocity and chill factor. Jack didn't seem to mind though, with plenty of sniffs to keep him busy.

When we got to the school house, the cloud and descending gloaming were combining to make the scene quite dark, so I shone a bit of head light onto the building to give it a bit of a boost.

AF would have been a bit sketchy in this light, but it was academic in this shot as I my vintage manual focus 50mm f/2 mounted on the Nikon. It's a neat little lens; nice and light with lovely bokeh with its 6-bladed aperture.
