Coincidences

At the Festival of Politics, sitting in tbe Garden Lounge cafe bar (amisnomer) with an Americano and book in hand. The book is Allan Massie's 'A Question of Loyalties' and I'm trying to think up two erudite questions as I'm in the invited bit of the audience for Saturday's recording of the September edition of 'James Naughtie's Book Club' in the big blue BBC tent. I look up and he's there, Naughtie not Massie, with Ruth Wishart. I'd have got a better picture but a baldy man stood in way.

The Great Tapestry of Scotland is here, with no crowds this time.

Yesterday was a real experience. My favourite, possibly James I although the music and energy and the focus on the womenfolk was great. Sophie Grabol (and I've never seen 'The Killing') and Blythe Duff were tremendous. I'm running out of superlatives here. I'm really glad I went, just wish I'd booked dinner.
