Post-walk glow

Rich came up last night with wine (but no dinner) and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the film Wall-E. We have finally realised that watching anything vaguely scary in the van is not conducive to a good night's sleep. We slept well after negotiating a 7am wake up & me serving tea in bed.

Deal!

We were out by 8am and still enjoyed beautiful light in the hills to start the day. Today's walk went up Hartsop Dodd, over Stoney Cove Pike and to Thornthwaite Crag for early lunch. We then traversed High Street, had second lunch on The Knott and detoured to my favourite tarn in the Lakes, Angle Tarn before heading back to the hut.

Although it's bank holiday, there weren't that many people about. One party we saw pointed out Blackpool Tower on the hazy horizon which I've never seen before (or known where to look to find it.)

Rich noted that it doesn't matter whether it's spring, summer, autumn or winter, you always enjoy that post-walk glow. And we did. With a fine cup of tea and a pack of Tuc biscuits. I'm sure other brands are available but they just wouldn't be the same!

Rich had to head home but I'm now enjoying another evening outside in the sunshine awaiting tomorrow's inclement weather. I've been bird watching out of the roof trying to find what was bashing snails on a rock. Turns out it wasn't the thrush I expected nor the snails nor a rock but a wood pecker with a gentle erratic knock. Must look that one up.
