Row, Row, Row the Boat

Technophobe had a bright idea recently. Why don’t a few of “us ladies” of the village try kayaking.

As you do.

So tonight three of us duly trundled off to a local swimming pool where they have a thriving kayak club.
First of all we were sized up. Literally. Our coach and another helper decided that one of us “needs a 220 and the others will be more suited to a piranha”.
Well that set the tone – we laughed and laughed. Until we had to get into the things that is. Well, we all managed it, and also managed over an hour on the water until the whistle blew to tell us it was time to get out.

We are now home and dry. My arms ache with the paddling; my legs ache with having to keep them in the right position to stabilise/steer the kayak ( steer in the future that is – we were going round in circles most of the time tonight, even though we’d been asked to go straight!); my stomach aches with laughing.

Roll on next Tuesday!

This photo was taken before we started when we were watching the youngsters in the earlier class, and keeping our fingers crossed that we wouldn't have to do that on our first night!

Sorry I'm late with my commenting - I've been too busy paddling! Will try to catch up tomorrow.
