Well, puffed, anyway. I'm not sure if this thrasher is especially proud of anything but he might be trying to keep warm on this chilly morning. Birds will puff themselves up to try to keep body heat in and maximize their coat of feathers to keep the cold air out.

They are cold-blooded and their temperature will change with the air temperature, so it's important that they keep warm in order to survive. After all, that's why so many birds fly south for warmer climes for the winter and north for cooler ones for the summer.

Imagine what global warming will do to the bird population. Most people don't.
