PINK INSHORE RESCUE BOATS? PINKTOBER 11

Today, Boscombe hosts the British Inshore Racing Boats Championships and we have a great view from our balcony.

I know the inshore rescue boats are orange and not pink, so I have had a play around and made them pink for today - and I’m sure they won’t mind.

It fits in with the BCAM challenge and it highlights the wonderful work that these guys do all year to keep our beaches safe and to rescue anyone in trouble on the sea.

The inshore rescue boat is hand-built to a proven design, tested over many years in extreme surf conditions. It is made from hypalon-coated fabric, an extremely durable synthetic rubber. The craft has a fabric floor tensioned by a separate keelson tube fitted under removable floorboards. This forms a shallow ‘V’ section that allows the craft to maintain speed and manoeuvrability through a wide range of difficult conditions.

Most of those who work on the inshore rescue boats are volunteers who work closely with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution beach lifeguards providing a joint lifeguard service and beach patrol in many places.

Time is like the sea -
you cannot touch the same water twice
because the flow that has passed
will never pass again.
Enjoy every moment of life.

P.S. As I type there is a terrific thunderstorm - glad we delayed going out for a walk.
