The accidental finding

The train in the rain

Not the best picture of the Duchess of Sutherland going over the Ribblehead viaduct in Yorkshire, but the rain started seconds before the train arrived!

We were on the way up to my mother's house in Argyll, we being me, my sister Tanya, aka TMLHereandThere, and CleanSteve. We took a detour from the M6 to Ribblehead, on the edge of the Yorkshire moors. The sun shone brightly as we made our way through picturesque villages, but we could not stop to take a picture because we had an appointment with other blippers, Jue and her husband Ian.

The weather turned colder and wetter, and after a quick rendezvous and a half pint in the warm pub that wafted out delicious fish-and-chip aromas, we went and stood in the piercing wind until the train came along. At this point the sky was far too washed out because of the rain, but ... it's a train! I blipped it.

We hurried on and stopped at some services in the borders after failing to find a cafe we'd once liked in Lockerbie. By the time we'd got to Callander we were in serious flooding territory, and had to aquaplane over several mini-lochs that had been caused by the actual lochs spilling over on to the road. The entire journey took over twelve hours, so we were delighted to arrive at only 10.45pm, and sit down to some supper.
