Ron And Me

This is U.S.Congressman Ron Barber who represents Arizona Congressional District 2, in which I reside. As a result of my work with the Party and the Green Valley community, we have become friends...close enough at least for me to be able to call him Ron and get welcome hugs before anyone else in the room.

He was first elected to the seat vacated by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who on January 8, 2011 (one of my first blips) was shot in the head by a would be assassin's bullet. Ron was her District Director, also shot that day, in the thigh and face.

He won a special election in the summer of 2012 and won the seat outright in November of that year. He is considered the most vulnerable incumbent Democratic Congressman in the country this year.  Right now the race is a "toss up" and we may not even know the results when we go to bed tomorrow night...or for a week or two as what happened between the same candidates two years ago.

So if you're reading this on Tuesday (tomorrow), think of me having gotten up and off to be at Democratic headquarters at 4 am to help turn at least part of this horribly Republican red state a tad bit bluer.

Think of Ron Barber, a man I  care deeply about, and how I'd like to see him hang around for at least another two years. A public servant, not a politician.
