A Day Worth Recording

By Cheeseminer

Ledbury

A rather good day today. First off was a drive to Hereford to talk to people about biomass boilers and log burners. This proved extremely enlightening, especially standing next to a boiler, looking up, and thinking Ooo, that's big.

Hereford itself held little appeal in the rain and traffic; however, on the way back we stopped off at Ledbury. Nominally to stock up on a few bottles of perry we'd sampled and liked at the Malvern show. Only in Herefordshire would you find a shop selling pretty much nothing other than local cider and perry.

And an offer on 12 bottles... Oh well, it would be inefficient in petrol not to...

We had a quick wander around. It's a fascinating place and we'll be back for more detailed wanderings. The church is especially curious. Not only does it have an 1820 copy of The Last Supper, some excellent modern stained glass, but also the tower is separate from the church - and it seems no-one knows why.
